Built on a redundant Thames Water filterbed at Sunnyside Works, Sunbury, the boathouse development was completed in 2000. An in-situ concrete boat store supports timber framed Changing and Club facilities with an extensive roof terrace.

A joint venture between Hampton Boys School and The Lady Eleanor Holles Girls School, the new boathouse provided much needed facilities for 2 leading rowing schools who previously rented space from other clubs.

The boathouse was opened on 15th October 2000 by Sir Steve Redgrave and his wife Ann, immediately following their return from the Sydney Olympics with Steve’s record breaking 5th Olympic rowing Gold.
