Refurbishing the Upper Floor at Thomas’s Clapham
The top floor of Thomas’s Clapham, a Grade II listed Victorian school building, was sensitively refurbished over the summer of 2025 to create a calm, contemporary learning environment within the historic fabric.
The works renewed classrooms and common spaces, combining careful restoration with modern educational standards. Natural materials and a biophilic colour palette were introduced to soften the interiors and enhance wellbeing, while bespoke joinery and acoustic baffles improve comfort and functionality.
Undertaken within a tight summer window, the project balanced heritage considerations, programme demands and cost efficiency, transforming the school’s upper floor into light-filled, flexible spaces that celebrate the character of the original building while supporting modern teaching.
“Nick and the team listened and delivered a great product in a short turn around time. “
“I think you and the team did a brilliant job. Communication was great and the end product is of a high quality.”
