Masterplan Case Study:
Reed’s School
Location Cobham, Surrey
IID drew up a long term development plan in 2005 to help set out the strategic objectives of the school. By involving the local authority at an early stage, so that their initial views could be ascertained and incorporated, it eased the way for future applications for development.
Since 2005 numerous projects have been completed, including a new Science Block, Day Pupil Centre, Dining infill and the prestigious ‘Futuretech’ Design and Technology building. They mostly share a common materials language arising from the original Arts & Craft Sanroyd Prep School by Treadwell and Martin but introduce a contemporary quality to the site.
The development plan was fully revised in 2015, to address the school’s rapid growth, and focused particularly on boarding provision. Since then, IID have worked on a new Sixth Form Centre and the Bridgman building extension to create new classrooms and science laboratories.
